10 years of strong fiber optic partnership: ewz and GAS&COM extend successful collaboration
Since 2015, the Zurich electricity utility ewz and fiber optic specialist GAS&COM have been combining their strengths in a strategic partnership. The aim was and remains to offer companies throughout Switzerland high-performance, secure, and highly available fiber optic-based services. Today, ten years later, this proven cooperation is being officially extended.
Strong in the network – strong in the market
The cooperation enables both partners to optimally combine their respective infrastructure and market strength: While GAS&COM has a nationwide fiber optic network along critical infrastructure, ewz’s presence in Zurich and connection to over 85% of Switzerland’s data centers offers ideal conditions for companies with high data requirements.
A special added value: Business customers benefit from exclusive point-to-point fiber optic connections, managed data transport services (with and without encryption), and managed Layer 2 services – with endpoints in the city of Zurich or in data centers connected by ewz.
Added value for business customers
Thanks to the partnership, ewz can now offer high-availability connections outside Zurich – a clear advantage for companies with multiple locations or individual data center strategies. GAS&COM, in turn, gains direct access to the key Zurich market through ewz.
Together into the future
The two companies will continue to focus on joint product development, coordinated services, coordinated market development, and efficient support structures.
Sergio Milesi, CEO GAS&COM AG:
“The cooperation with ewz has proven to be a strong foundation over the past ten years. With the extension, we are focusing on continuity – and on further innovation.”

Roman Leiser, Head of Sales and Market Development ewz:
“Our customers throughout Switzerland now benefit from seamless, secure fiber optic connections. This is the result of a strong, reliable partnership – and that will remain the case in the future.”
